✨HOW TO GUIDE & FAQ✨
1. Get Your Sparkle Station Ready
Pour your rhinestones into the trays and place all of the trays inside a shallow box or lid. This keeps everything organized and helps prevent accidental knock-overs.
A clean workspace means a smoother project!
2. Prime Your GEMIFLEX™
Remove the cap and securely twist the precision tip onto your GEMIFLEX™ bottle. Now you're ready to start crafting.
3. Prep Your Kicks (Don't Skip This!)
GEMIFLEX™ bonds to leather, canvas, nylon, neoprene, textiles, rubber, and many other materials with an incredible bond strength of approximately 3,000 lbs.
Some shoes—especially many Nike models—have an invisible protective coating
that prevents glue from bonding properly.
Here's the test:
-
Wipe the area with acetone using a cotton ball.
-
If nothing happens, great! You've removed the protective layer.
-
If paint starts coming off, stop immediately and move to Step 4.
Removing the coating exposes the raw surface so your crystals can permanently fuse.
4. Acetone Safety
Acetone is powerful and can remove paint or finishes from shoes.
✔ Use it in a well-ventilated area.
✔ If paint begins coming off, stop using acetone on that area.
5. Wake Up the Glue 💧
GEMIFLEX™ is activated by tiny water molecules present on your projects.
Before you begin your work complete the following:
-
Lightly wipe your shoe with a damp cloth.
-
Don't soak it—you shouldn't even see water.
-
Just a quick wipe and let it air dry for a minute.
That's all it takes to prep the perfect bonding surface.
6. Master the Perfect Glue Drop
The secret to a professional finish is using less glue, not more.
The ideal glue drop:
-
Covers the entire bottom of the rhinestone
-
Does NOT squeeze out around the edges
-
Is about half the size of the rhinestone
IMPORTANT: Less glue = Cleaner sparkle.
7. Place Your Crystal
Once the rhinestone touches the glue, you'll have about
15–30 seconds to make small adjustments.
Gently press the crystal into place, line it up, then let GEMIFLEX™ do the rest.
8. Plan Before You Glue
Before adding glue, place your rhinestones exactly where you want them.
Once you're happy with the layout:
-
Pick up one stone
-
Add one glue drop
-
Set the stone back down
Working one crystal at a time keeps everything perfectly aligned.
Building the Signature GEMIFLY® "Open Honeycomb" Gem Pattern
9. Start Strong
Always begin each section from the bottom corner and work upward.
10. Keep Your Lines Straight
Use a strip of masking tape as a guide for your very first row.
A straight first row makes every row after it easier.
11. Even Spacing Matters
Your first row is your foundation.
Take your time and make sure every crystal is evenly spaced from left to right.
12. Build the Honeycomb
Each new row should sit directly between the two crystals below it—
just like a real honeycomb. Perfect staggering creates that signature GEMIFLY® look.
13. Stay Consistent
Decide how open you want your pattern before you begin.
Whether you prefer a tighter or more open look, keep that spacing consistent throughout the entire project for the cleanest finish
14. Check Your Work Often 👀
Every few rows:
-
Rotate the shoe about 45° in both directions.
-
Look at your lines from multiple angles.
Small adjustments now prevent big corrections later.
15. Avoid the Crease
Every shoe bends when you walk.
Before placing crystals:
-
Flex the shoe to reveal the natural crease.
-
Avoid placing crystals directly on that fold.
Your crystals will stay on much longer.
16. Blend Like a Pro
When transitioning between two crystal colors:
-
Find where the colors meet.
-
Use your smallest stones around the transition.
-
Mix both colors together between the rows.
This softens the transition and creates a beautiful professional gradient.
17. Restore Maximum Sparkle
During the curing prcoess, a light vapor can temporarily dull your crystals.
Don't worry—it's completely normal. Here's how to fix:
-
Dip a cotton swab or Qtip into acetone.
-
Gently wipe each crystal until clear.
Within seconds, the brilliance returns!
18. Final Polish
Finish by wiping your project with a microfiber cloth to remove fingerprints, residue, and dust. Now step back and enjoy that signature GEMIFLY® sparkle!
💎 Pro Tips
⭐ Let the Background Breathe
The tighter your pattern, the more crystals you'll use—
and the less of the shoe you'll see.
The signature GEMIFLY® Open Honeycomb Pattern is designed to let the shoe show through, creating depth and making each crystal sparkle even more.
⭐ Every Row Is a Fresh Start
Made a mistake? Don't panic.
The row you're working on is always the most important one. A carefully placed next row can often straighten and improve the entire pattern.
⭐ Trust the Process
Only you know when your masterpiece is finished. Take your time.
Open Honeycomb isn't about speed—it's about precision.
Slow and steady creates legendary sparkle. ✨
